Performance
The engine load is detected from the engine revolution, vehicle speed, and throttle opening and the intake valve timing is switched to the high output pattern or the fuel saving pattern.
When the load is small, the intake valve close timing is delayed to substantially reduce the amount of intake. At the same time, the pumping loss is reduced with DBW to reduce fuel consumption.
Accelerator motion is conveyed to the throttle valve not by a mechanical cable but by electric signals.With computer assistance, the throttle valve is controlled very accurately and precisely.
Length of intake manifold is set to long at low engine revolution and short at high engine revolution to realize a high torque by always using the optimum intake inertial effect.
